At around 6:00pm Coal City Comm. firefighters were dispatched to SR 67 near the Owen-Greene County line for a accident with injuries and entrapment. Being a overturned semi and the severity of the entrapment and the location several agencies from both Owen and Greene Counties responded to the scene. First arriving crews found a semi off the side of SR 67 with very heavy damage to the cab of the truck. Rescue crews from Coal City,Worthington,Freedom and Spencer worked for nearly 20 minutes to free the driver of the semi who suffered only minor injuries. Coal City firefighters remained on scene for nearly 6 hours directing traffic and assisting in the cleanup. This incident came just one day after Coal City firefighters were involved another overturned truck south of Coal City on SR 157. Firefighters were on that scene for nearly 7 hours dealing with the cleanup and containing a haz-mat spill. Agencies assisting on the accident on SR 67 included; Coal City Community Vol. Fire/Rescue,Worthington VFD,Franklin Twp. VFD, Owen County Rescue,Owen County EMS, Greene County EMS, Owen County Sheriffs Department,Greene County Sheriffs Department and the Indiana State Police.
